NMIMS Online Distance Learning: Reason of Ban
In February 2023, UGC stopped NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies) from providing online degree programs by imposing a ban on NMIMS online education. However, NMIMS was banned from online education only, and offline courses are accessible to students. The main reason for this decision by UGC was the university was not following the higher education institution norms, which include: NMIMS not providing enough facilities, Limited staff Providing online programs without UGC approval Low-quality study material No following refund policies, recommended by UGC All the above-mentioned issues were first complained by students and their parents, later after UGC involvement and cross-examination, this strict decision was finally taken and UGC imposed a ban on NMIMS online and distance education. This ban affected the new admissions which caused higher frustration because students have to put their education on hold. For existing students, the ban has no effect. Later, NMIMS also introduced a refund policy for first-year students who paid the online program fees.
Why UGC Removes Ban on NMIMS Online?
In the latest notice, UGC has removed the ban from NMIMS online education. With this latest notice, NMIMS is now eligible to provide online and distance education courses. NMIMS has acknowledged all the issues raised by UGC and started working on them, with the commitment to providing high-quality education by implementing and providing better online learning material, highly qualified faculty and experts, improved infrastructure and enhanced online education facilities. Also, NMIMS removes all the discrepancies by aligning its fee refund policies with UGC.
